Performing Arts

At Beverley Hills Primary School (BHPS) the Performing Arts (PA) program encompasses Music, Dance and Drama, but has Music at its heart.

In the junior years students participate in a sequential program aimed at developing basic music skills. These skills are built upon in the senior years to encompass all facets of PA. All students from Prep – Year 6 have a 50 minute weekly session and are encouraged to be involved in the school choirs.

BHPS has two choirs: Training Choir for Years 2 – 3 and Senior Choir for Year 4 – 6. Rehearsals are weekly and held at lunchtimes. Opportunities to perform at school events include: assemblies, Open Day, the Art Show, Harmony day, and Anzac Day, as well as community events such as: Manningham Harmony Day, East Doncaster Secondary College Choir Workshop and Carols in the community.

Concerts

BHPS offers bi-annual concerts for all students. Concerts are based around different themes and involve the students in singing, dancing and acting.

Instrumental lessons

All Year 4 students learn Recorder.

There is also an opportunity for BHPS students to learn an instrument through our instrumental provider, Wonnies. Instruments offered are: Piano, Keyboard, Guitar, Ukulele, Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Violin and Drums. All students learning instruments both inside and outside school are invited to perform in PA weekly sessions and some will perform at assemblies.
