Primary-aged students have a natural curiosity which, when harnessed, can lead to a love of science that will last well beyond their primary school years. At Beverley Hills Primary School (BHPS), teachers are able to provide engaging, age-appropriate activities during science lessons.
Through learning Science, Beverley Hills Primary students from Prep to Year 6, acquire scientific skills and conceptual knowledge as well as attain and use the skills of scientific investigation, reasoning and analysis to ask questions and seek solutions. This develops scientific attributes such as flexibility, curiosity, critical reflection, respect for evidence and ethical considerations.
We follow the Victorian Curriculum, studying and learning core science features such as: chemical changes, energy and forces, living things, earth and space, as well as designing and pursuing investigations.
Students in the Senior School have the opportunity to participate in the Science Talent Quest. In addition, BHPS joins with Deakin University to provide our Year 6 students further extension in a diversity of Science areas.
The world is a rapidly changing environment and at BHPS we understand that we need inspired scientists to continue the process of discovery across all science sectors!
